Proposition A Update

Proposition A Update

The Missouri Grocers Association, in collaboration with our business coalition partners, continues to work toward solutions that will bring much-needed relief to Missouri businesses following the burdensome regulations imposed by Proposition A.

As of today, the Missouri Supreme Court has not yet issued a ruling on the Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Initiative petition passed last fall. Additionally, legislation aiming to fix many concerns related Proposition A continues to move through the process.

Employers must prepare to comply with the following requirement:

Tuesday, April 15, 2025, all employers must post written notice of their “earned paid sick time” policy on a single piece of 8.5 x 11 paper in no less than 14-point font. The notice must include:

  1. Employees accrue paid sick time at the rate of 1 hour earned for every 30 hours worked.
  2. Employers are prohibited from taking retaliatory action against employees who request or use paid sick leave.
  3. Employees have a right to bring a civil action if paid sick leave is denied.
  4. Contact information for the Missouri Department of Labor.

To assist with compliance, MGA has prepared a revised poster that meets the current legal requirements and clearly states that the information is subject to change pending litigation and legislation.

This situation remains fluid, and your MGA team is actively engaged in Jefferson City, working tirelessly to protect and advocate for Missouri’s business community.

Please stay connected with MGA through the weekend and into early next week for critical updates as we approach the compliance deadline.

Thank you for your continued support. Please email EJ Fleischmann at efleischmann@missourigrocers.com if you need a copy emailed to you or if you have any additional questions.
